Dana and Associates is now Rilus Law!
Dana and Associates is now Rilus Law! Well, technically we are still Dana and Associates, LLC. However, we will now be going by our new name: Rilus Law.
Why the New Name?
The short answer: To help avoid confusion.
I have had the pleasure of helping many of you during my tenure at other Dana law firms:
Through college, law school, and when I earned my law license in 2009 to 2014 = My father's firm.
2014 to 2015 = Dana Law Group, LLC with my brother.
2015 to Present = My own firm, Dana and Associates, LLC.
Several years later, people are still getting confused about who is who, and rightfully so. With my dad and brother still practicing law with office locations very close to each other, it can be confusing. So, this rebranding into Rilus Law is my attempt to clarify.
The long answer: Every transition of my law career has provided clarity on my core values and the service I want to provide to my clients. Rilus Law is simply the next level of that!
If you'd like the full back story of these transitions, you're welcome to read on...
In 2014, my father decided to join a national law firm and continue to practice in Phoenix and North Scottsdale. At that time, he sold all of his other office locations to the other attorneys. Those of you who were a client of mine then got some long confusing letters stating that you could choose where your files would go and what attorneys and firm you wanted to work with. You also had the choice to have your original documents sent directly to you to hold.
In December 2014, Dana Law Group, LLC was founded by myself and my younger brother, Zachary Dana, who had recently passed the bar and started practicing law. You may remember hearing from me during this period and transition. My time at Dana Law Group was short-lived and Dana and Associates, LLC was created in December 2015.
My goal for 2023 is to remove that confusion with a new name, but with the same great service!
The rebrand strengthens our commitment to our core values and the service we provide.
At Rilus Law, we believe in:
Mindfulness. This includes every team member being mindful in their work and interactions with you and each other, as well as mindfulness in our style of estate planning. Our legal documents are streamlined to be shorter and more effective than long-winded estate plans of the past. Additionally, our mindfulness allows us to create a safe, inclusive space for modern families and individuals of all types, shapes, sizes, and walks of life.
Empowerment. Among other things like our estate planning education and free resources, this means that you keep your original estate planning documents. We do not hold any original documents, as we want to empower you with the safekeeping of these documents. Then, you hold the power to do as you wish with your plan, and you can freely contact us if you want our help.
Passion. Our actions are driven by our passion. This is evident in our flat-rate fees, digital processes that make meetings and drafting easier for clients, and a team that goes above and beyond for you and your loved ones. It also lays the foundation for many of our services, especially the unique areas of digital asset planning and trust administration.
Rilus Law will still offer all of the services you know and love, but the new brand puts a focus on "next generation probate & estate law firm".
My law practice has been distinguished by digital asset planning, and I am committed to continuing to evolve our plans to meet the demands of the modern world.
Also, considering that real estate is typically the largest asset clients deal with, Rilus Law will continue to offer real estate solutions. There are many issues with real estate in the process of probate, such as needing to clear out the house or no family in the state to handle the property. While this doesn't fall under the job of an estate planning or probate attorney, I won't turn you away without offering a solution.
Finally, Rilus Law brings an increased focus on trust administration. After the loss of a loved one, it is a challenging time to manage probate or administer a trust. Trust administration especially comes with specific responsibilities and a fiduciary duty to the beneficiaries. I offer varying levels of support to both the successor trustee and beneficiaries as they navigate the trust administration process.
This is a lot of information, but I wanted to clearly communicate the reason for the name change and my commitment moving forward.
